Siena is a worldwide famous city in the central Italy (Tuscany) and a classic destination for any travel to Italy.It is known for its artistic patrimony, for the medieval structure and for the famous manifestation il Palio.
Siena has been declared from the Unesco a World Heritage Site.
Siena lies to the center of an immense collinear landscape. The historical center is surrounded by a complete circuit of medieval walls and narrow and twisting streets are surrounding Piazza del Campo, the magnificent main square of the city.
The city is divided in Contrade and twice a year (July 2nd and August 16) they compete on the Palio.
The Palio is a traditional medieval horse race that is run around the Piazza del Campo each year. This event is attended by large crowds and the entire manifestation involves a typical medieval parade.
During a visit to Siena it worth a visit the countryside surrounding the town; wine yards, roman villas, hills and fields are the perfect environment to relax.
Must do in Siena
Walk on the top of the Torre del Mangia.You'll have to climb 400 hundred steps but You'll have the best view on the city with the Piazza del Campo, the Duomo and on the background the beautiful hills that sourrounds the city.

Siena is linked to Florence by a "superstrada" (the Raccordo Autostradale RA03 - Siena-Firenze).
Drivers should be aware that almost no traffic is permitted within the city centre. Several large car parks are located immediately outside the city walls. The "La Fortezza" car park is closest to the centre, and is free of charge.
